Lambe-Akute residents decry state of community roads, appeals to Gov Abiodun to fulfill campaign promises

During the campaign for the 2019 election on a visit to the area, Governor Dapo Abiodun as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress promised to fix the roads and pay particular attention to the border communities between Lagos and Ogun states.
Three years in office, the people of Lambe-Akute have not seen any respite as the condition of the roads have degenerated and almost impassable. There are reports that some residents, including landlords have moved out of the area because of the terrible access roads to the communities.
A senior journalist, Mr. Festus Akanbi on his Facebook post lamented the level of neglect despite the fact that the people of this communities pay their taxes and other levies to Ogun State and local governments.
Mr. Akanbi posted: “People of Lambe-Akute like residents of other communities in the state experienced the first major rainfall this year on Friday, April 8, 2022.
“However, while the coming of the rainy season brought relief to others, it brought pains and losses to those living in Akute, Lambe, Oke Aro and Agbado areas of the state.
“The road is already in a mess (see the picture of a portion of the road, taken on Saturday morning, below).
“Governor Dapo Abiodun promised to fix this road this year, when he was presenting the 2022 budget. The first quarter is gone already. We are still waiting to see his contractors.”
