LASG dislodges illegal occupants at Oja Oba bridge in Lagos Island

The Lagos State Ministry of Environment on Wednesday dislodged illegal occupants who had converted the Oja Oba Bridge in the Adeniji Adele area of the state into apartments.

The Commissioner for Environment, Wahab Tokunbo, who shared videos of the clearance operation on his X page on Thursday, disclosed that the exercise was aimed at restoring sanity to the area.

According to Wahab, bridges are meant to foster smooth movement and ensure orderliness in urban cities such as Lagos.

He said, “We have commenced a major clean-up and enforcement operation at Under Bridge, Oja Oba, Adeniji Adele, Lagos Island. These public spaces, meant for free movement and urban order, have been reclaimed to ensure a cleaner and safer environment for all.”

The commissioner added that the ministry would continue to uphold environmental standards while urging residents of the state to play their part in keeping Lagos clean.
