LASG intervenes in alleged assault of ARM Pension Managers’ employee

The Lagos State Government has intervened in a case involving an alleged rape of a female employee of ARM Pension Managers Limited by a colleague during an official party.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Cecilia Dada, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria.
Dada stated that while the accused Executive Director is currently in police custody and awaiting prosecution, WAPA’s primary concern is the emotional and psychological wellbeing of the victim. Efforts are underway to provide her with the necessary support, as she has reportedly isolated herself and refused to communicate with anyone.
The Lagos State Government promptly contacted ARM Pension Managers upon learning of the rape allegation. The company confirmed they had engaged a psychologist to counsel the victim and hired a private investigator to look into the matter, which is also being handled by the police.
Dada emphasized the ministry’s collaboration with the police to ensure justice for the victim, reiterating Lagos State’s zero tolerance for domestic and gender-based violence. She noted that despite the victim’s reluctance to answer calls, WAPA’s counsellors and social workers are working to reach her. The company assured WAPA that they are providing the necessary psychological support.
“The man is already in police custody, and we are confident that he will be charged once investigations are complete. Our priority is to ensure the victim receives the help she needs to overcome this trauma,” Dada said.
The victim, in her report to ARM Pension Managers, called for the arrest of the accused executive director. She alleged that he spiked her drink during the office party, drove her to a hotel, and raped her. She described waking up in a hotel room, disoriented, with sore and bruised private parts and her clothes in a pile.
“My last memory of the night was around 7:30 p.m., and I have no recollection of any conversation or activity until I woke up at 3:00 a.m. in a hotel room, undressed and in pain,” she recounted. The victim reported the incident to the Head of HR, the Managing Director, and another executive director of ARM Pension Managers.
She has appealed to the Lagos State Government to fully support her case and ensure the prosecution of the perpetrator and any accomplices involved.
