Public Service Week: Lagos civil servants present gift items to orphanages

Lagos State government has donated gifts and food items to various orphanages, homes and children centres across the State in commemoration of the Year 2022 Public Service Week.

The gesture, according to the Head of Service, Mr. Hakeem Muri-Okunola, is a way of identifying with the children, homes, orphanages and charity organisations at this particular time of the celebration of the public service week by all public servants in the state.

The Head of Service,  who monitored the presentation of the various household items, food and drinks and cash donations to representatives of the beneficiaries on Monday at Alausa Secretariat, Ikeja, commended all the presentation committee, headed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Dr Aina Olugbenga for impressive and laudable efforts towards the success of the programme.

He maintained that the donation was done by public servants and not from government, while also expressing appreciation to every single individuals that have contributed one thing or the other to make the presentation a huge success this year.

He attested that the beneficiary homes and orphanages were five in number last year, but said the number was increased to six this year due to benevolence and large heart of public servants, which was quite impressive and appreciative.

Representatives of Motherless Babies Home, Heart of Gold Children Hospices, Missionaries of Charity, Children Centre, Idi-Araba, Tripple Passion Home Initiative, Magodo and Old Peoples Home, Yaba, described the gesture as an act of love and kindness that would for long be remembered and appreciated by the beneficiaries because this is probably what they least expected on a day like this, especially from public servants.

Also, the Matron, Motherless Babies Home, Lekki, Lagos, Mrs Modupeola Adebukola, while speaking on behalf of other beneficiaries thanked the public servants for the donation, especially for having a large heart to care for the needy, saying God will continue to bless and protect their homes too.
