In its ongoing efforts to combat noise pollution, the Lagos State Government has taken action by sealing off two churches, four hotels, two plazas, and a gas firm for violating noise pollution laws across the state.

These establishments, located in various parts of the state, were sealed after multiple attempts to ensure adherence to the approved noise standards mandated by Lagos law.

Among the sealed premises in Surulere and Mushin Local Governments are School2bar, Blue Seasons Hotel & Suites, and St Monica’s Hall of Our Lady of Lords Catholic Church.

Similarly, in Ibeju-Lekki and Epe Local Governments, the Christ Rock of Fire Ministry, Al Hotel, Nnaco Cooking Gas, Sulerious Lakeside Hotel, Monero Hotel & Suites, A & M Complex, A & M Plaza, and Lekki Hotel & Suites were sealed during the enforcement operation.

According to the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunboh Wahab, who made the announcement via his official social media handle, these closures were necessary to enforce compliance with environmental regulations.

Wahab emphasized that this action, carried out by the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), is part of the government’s commitment to addressing noise pollution and other environmental violations.

He also disclosed that despite repeated warnings, several establishments, including a hotel, a Bar, and a Catholic Church, continued to ignore LASEPA’s directives, and as such the establishments have been closed to enforce compliance with environmental regulations.

The Commissioner further drummed the importance of facilities adhering to environmental laws, noting that obedience to constituted authorities was an essential ingredient in creating harmonious and sustainable environment for all.
