LASIEC is ninety percent ready for 2025 LG polls, says Okikiolu-Ighile

The Chairman of the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC), Justice Bola Okikiolu-Ighile (retd.), has said the Commission is ninety percent ready for the conduct of the 2025 local government elections.
Okikiolu-Ighile made this known while appearing before the Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Economic Planning and Budget on Wednesday at the Assembly Complex, Alausa, Ikeja.
It would be recalled that the 2025 local government elections in Lagos had been scheduled for July 12.
The LASIEC Chairman explained that all the 20 local governments and 37 Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) were visited to ensure their offices in each of the Councils were conducive for logistics.
Okikiolu-Ighile added that the Commission had met with leadership of the participating political parties, youth organisations and civil society organisations on the conduct of the elections.
” We have visited the 57 local governments to know how well our offices are for logistics.
“We have visited the security agencies. We had stakeholders meeting with political parties, youths and we have done consistent voter education across the state.
“We have had induction programmes for our Electoral Officers, Assist Electoral Officers”, said Okikiolu-Ighile.
No fewer than 19 political parties would participating in the 2025 local government elections including the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), Social Democratic Party (SDP) and the Labour Party (LP).
