Late Sheikh Hadiyyatullah to be buried today in Osun — Supreme Council announces

The Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN) has announced that the Janazah (funeral) prayer and burial of its President, Sheikh AbdurRasheed Hadiyyatullah, will take place today, Tuesday, April 29, 2025.

According to a statement issued by the Council’s Secretary General, Naf Baba Ahmad, the revered Islamic scholar who died on Monday, will be interred at 2:00 PM in his hometown of Iwo, Osun State.

“With deep sorrow and total submission to the will of Allah, the Majlis Ash-Shura and entire membership of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria announce the passing of our esteemed leader,” the statement read.

Sheikh Hadiyyatullah was widely respected for his deep knowledge, humility, and devotion. He was known for his commitment to da’wah, Islamic education, and national discourse, and until his passing, served as Director of the Sheikh Ibn Baz Shari’ah College of Nigeria.

The Council described him as a pillar of nation-building whose voice and vision shaped Nigeria’s moral, religious, and civic landscape.

“We pray that Allah (SWT) forgives him, has mercy on him, and admits him into Jannatul Firdaus,” the Council said, also praying for strength for his family, students, and the broader Muslim community.

In honour of his legacy, the Council pledged to remain steadfast in its mission and continue promoting unity and progress across Nigeria.
