LAWMA withdraws licences of 6 PSP operators over poor performance

The Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) has withdrawn the operating licences of six Private Sector Participation (PSP) operators for failing to meet required standards for effective waste collection.
The State’s Commissioner for Environment and Drainage Services, Tokunbo Wahab, announced the decision on Facebook on Tuesday, saying it was part of efforts to build a cleaner, healthier and more sustainable environment.
Wahab identified those affected as K-HS Integrated Services (formerly Gboleybos Nigeria Limited) in Igbogbo-Baiyeku; Deshasat Enterprises in Olorunda; Bailas Nigeria Company in Ojo; Guestimate Environmental Protection Company in Orile Agege; Evabol Ventures in Ajeromi-Ifelodun; and Korad Closet Empire Limited in Ojodu.
“Their affected service locations are Ward C1, Slot A, Abosan, Igbogbo-Baiyeku; Ibereko (LIMCA), Olorunda; Sabo Oniba, Ojo; Papa Ashafa II, Orile Agege; Oluwa 1, Ajeromi-Ifelodun; and Oke-Ira/Powerline, Ojodu”, said Wahab.
According to Wahab, K-HS Integrated Services voluntarily withdrew from its service area, while the licences of the other five operators were terminated after regulatory assessments found their service capacity inadequate.
“As a government, we will continue to strengthen regulatory oversight, enforce performance standards and ensure that waste management operators live up to their responsibilities. The wellbeing of Lagos residents and the protection of our environment remain paramount,” he said.
He added that the government would ensure uninterrupted waste collection in the affected communities through appropriate interventions.
Wahab urged residents to use only approved waste management channels and support efforts to keep Lagos clean, safe and sustainable.
“A cleaner Lagos is a shared responsibility, and we will continue to take every necessary step to protect the environment and improve the quality of life of all residents,” he said.
