Lawmaker begs Abiodun for more infrastructural projects in Ogun West

The Vice Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation in Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Wahab Egungbohun has appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun to give Ogun West more infrastructural projects.

The lawmaker, representing Yewa North (I I) Ketu State Constituency made the appeal during the second reading of 2024 budget held at the Assembly Complex, Okemosan Abeokuta, the state capital.

It would be recalled that the Governor presented over N703.03b 2024 Appropriation Bill to the Assembly.

N415.66bn was earmarked for Capital Expenditure while recurrent expenditure will gulps N287.37bn.

The proposed budget christened, “Budget of Sustained Growth and Development” earmarked N95.05bn for personnel costs, consolidated revenue stood at N27.35bn, while public debt charge was fixed at N59.09bn and overhead cost put at N105.88bn for the next fiscal year.

Speaking during the plenary session, the lawmaker commended Abiodun for some projects executed in Ogun West which included over 198 classrooms renovated in five local government areas and some roads construction and other projects over the years.

Egungbohun said unlike other senatorial districts who have been receiving major projects in their respective zone, urged the Governor to remember Ogun West in the implementation of 2024 budget.

He said that the senatorial district deserves more attention in terms of infrastructural development more than before.

He cited Imeko Afon, Ijoun, Eeguaa, Oja-Odan, Ilase, Itoro which belongs to Yewa South, Ipokia, among other major roads that cut across all the four local governments in Ogun West that needed government attention, adding that the state of the roads was bad.

Egungbohun appealed to the governor to construct major roads so as to ease the movement of people and goods in the axis.

The lawmaker who equally appealed to the state Governor to fulfill his campaign promises for Ogun West, said a primary health center located at Oja-Odan which has been abandoned for years also needs the state government attention for the benefit of the community.

Egungbohun also explained that the abandoned World Bank Rural Electrification Project that cut across 57 communities in Ketu Yewa North needs government attention and should be completed to improve standard of living of the people in the community.
