Lawmaker partners MTN to empower students with digital learning tools in Kwara

The member representing Ilorin West/Asa Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Muktar Tolani Shagaya, has facilitated the distribution of digital learning tablets to students of Commercial Secondary School, Bakase, in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The initiative, executed in collaboration with MTN Nigeria, is part of broader efforts to bridge the digital divide and enhance access to quality education in underserved communities.

Speaking during the official presentation, Hon. Shagaya described the initiative as a transformative tool designed to prepare students for opportunities in a technology-driven global economy.

“This initiative is aimed at equipping our youth with the tools they need to succeed in a digital world,” he said, noting that access to digital learning would improve academic performance and digital literacy.

The federal lawmaker also highlighted the importance of public-private partnerships in reforming Nigeria’s education system and commended MTN Nigeria for supporting the initiative.

The distribution follows Shagaya’s participation in the formal launch of the project in Abuja, where key stakeholders reiterated the role of collaboration in reshaping the educational landscape.

Community leaders, educators, and beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the intervention, describing it as timely and impactful, particularly for rural schools lacking digital infrastructure.

Hon. Shagaya reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing education and ensuring that no student in his constituency is left behind in the evolving digital era.
