Lekki-Epe Expressway, major route for kidnappers, robbers, carjackers – Police

Based on available crime data, the Lekki-Epe Expressway is a common passage used by kidnappers, robbers, and carjackers, Lagos State Police Command, revealed on Saturday.

Spokesman for the Command, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, made the revelation on X. He was reacting to another X user, @lanlot, who complained about the roadblock allegedly mounted on the road by Police officers from the Elemoro Police Station.
The X user noted that the roadblock could lead to auto crashes on the road. He wrote, “@BenHundeyin @Princemoye1 Elemoro pol station Area J is mounting a Rd blk on the lekki epe expressway in from of their station, this road attracts lot of heavy duty vehicles on high speed & stopping them suddenly will surely cause a major accident on this road, pls let’s prevent”.
Responding, Hundeyin said, “Our crime statistics showed that that road was a major route for kidnappers, robbers and carjackers. Introducing these checks has drastically reduced these ugly incidents. It is more telling that some vehicles encounter these checks, do a hasty U-turn and zoom off. In one week alone, these two foreign-made pistols and other firearms were recovered in that axis. Please, do bear with us”.
