LG boss advises Oyo INEC on PVC collection

By Richard Thomas, Ibadan

Chairman, Ibadan North West Local Government Area of Oyo State, Rahman Adepoju has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to take the bulk of the uncollected Permanent Voters Card (PVC) to local government wards across the state to ease off the stress of collection by the people.

Adepoju, in an interview with Westernpost said such step would help to reduce the huge number of uncollected PVCs in all the local governments in the state.

According to him, the reason the huge number of PVCs have not been collected has to do with the long distance and time factor on the side of the people.

“Time and distance have remained the reason many people have not collected their PVC in all the local governments in the state, but I want to advise INEC in the state to endeavour to take the PVCs to various wards of local government in the state for easy collection. This will help in a great dimension,” he said.

Speaking on the high spate of insecurity in the country in recent times, the council boss blamed the development on poor leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC), adding that the Federal Government has failed to make good use of all the security outfits which include the Police, military, NSCDC, DSS and others.

According to him, lackadaisical attitude and an act of mismanagement of security resources by the Muhammadu Buhari administration led to the high spate of insecurity and criminal activities in the country.

“We thank and commend Governor Seyi Makinde for his initiative at combating crimes and criminal activities through the establishment of Amotekun security outfit.

“If not for the setting up of Amotekun in the South West, the issue of insecurity would have been something else.

“Apart from this, the governor also directed all the local governments in the state to have their own security outfits to complement the Amotekun security outfits.  The one put up in my council is called Scorpion. This has really helped in combating crimes in Ibadan North West Local Government and the state in particular,” he said.
