Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President and CAF Executive Member, Amaju Melvin Pinnick, has stated that the final verdict on the botched Africa Cup of Nations qualifier between Libya and Nigeria will be released before the weekend.

The Disciplinary Committee of the African soccer governing body had initially indicated that the decision would be announced on Wednesday.

Speaking on Arise TV, Pinnick emphasized that the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness, and steps will be taken to prevent future occurrences. “CAF is taking this issue very seriously,” he said.

“CAF President Patrice Motsepe embodies integrity and Pan-Africanism. We deliberated on it during our Executive Committee meeting, and it was a topic of intense discussion.

“We highlighted the gravity of the situation because anything could have happened to the Super Eagles.

“CAF is handling the matter with the seriousness it deserves, and we are leaving no stone unturned.”
