A London-bound Air India plane carrying 242 people crashes shortly after take-off in Ahmedabad, western India
According to BBC report, the Flight AI171 was travelling from Ahmedabad to London Gatwick.
There were 169 Indian nationals on the flight, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese nationals and one Canadian, Air India says

Tracking website Flightradar24 says it received the last signal from the aircraft at 625 feet (190m) “just seconds after take off”
Ahmedabad’s police chief GS Malik, who earlier said there appear to be no survivors from the crash.
He also says that because the plane crashed in a residential area, “some locals would have also died”.
“Exact figures on casualties are being ascertained,” he says, according to AP.
