Lookman, Onyedika on target as Atletico, Brugge share six goals

By Tosin Omojola –

Nigerian internationals Ademola Lookman and Raphael Onyedika were on the scoresheet as their clubs, Atletico Madrid and Club Brugge, battled to a 3–3 draw.

Wednesday night’s UEFA Champions League first-leg play-off match saw the visiting Spanish side blow a two-goal lead.

Julian Alvarez scored from the spot to give Atletico an eighth-minute lead before Lookman added the second in first-half stoppage time.

Raphael Onyedika reduced the deficit for Brugge in the 51st minute, and that proved to be the spark needed by the hosts, who levelled nine minutes later through Nicolo Tresoldi.

A 79th-minute own goal by Joel Ordonez restored Atletico’s lead, only for Christos Tzolis to draw Brugge level again a minute into added time to end the tie 3–3.

The result leaves both sides with everything to play for in the return leg in Spain.
