The Labour Party (LP) has accused Peter Obi, Aisha Yesufu, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, Akin Osuntokun, and others of diverting N12 billion and $15 million in campaign funds during the 2023 presidential election.

In a statement issued by the LP National Working Committee, led by Chairman Julius Abure and Secretary Farouk Umar Ibrahim, the party called on the National Security Adviser and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to investigate the alleged embezzlement, misappropriation, and possible terrorism financing linked to the accused individuals.

The statement claims Yesufu was one of the key signatories involved in the alleged mismanagement of funds, with accusations that she, alongside Pastor Itua Ighodalo, failed to account for significant sums donated to the Labour Party’s presidential campaign.

The party also accused Pa Adebanjo, Ayo Osuntokun, and Sola Ebiseni of financial infractions involving over N600 million, allegedly retained in private accounts associated with the Afenifere group.

LP’s leadership further alleged that Peter Obi orchestrated a scheme with Yesufu and others to siphon off campaign funds, accusing him of defrauding the party.

The statement also indicated that unauthorized accounts were opened to divert the funds, listing specific bank account details.

“For the record, Mr. Peter Gregory Obi, with intent to obtain money under false pretenses from the Labour Party, and covering up his looting spree, opened the Obi/Baba-Ahmed Campaign accounts, violating constitutional and moral grounds to misappropriate over N12 billion and $15 million,” the statement claimed.

It listed the following accounts:

  • Obi/Baba-Ahmed Campaign Account: Zenith Bank – 1241950451
  • Sterling Bank – 0091657896
  • Heritage Bank – 1400234900
  • Globus Bank – 1000128194

The LP described these actions as part of a broader scheme of looting and financial misconduct and called for a thorough investigation to hold those involved accountable.

The party emphasized its commitment to transparency and vowed to pursue legal action to recover the misappropriated funds.
