Makinde charges 147 new nursing students to uphold high standards of virtue, ethical conduct

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde has charged 147 new students of the College of Nursing and Midwifery to uphold the college’s high standards of virtue and ethical conduct.

The Governor gave the charge at the second matriculation ceremony of the college, held at the institution’s auditorium in Eleyele, Ibadan stressing the importance of resilience in the nursing profession.

Makinde, who was represented by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Soliu Abdulwaheed Adelabu, emphasized the critical role nurses play in the healthcare system, urging the new students to be committed to academic excellence and professional integrity.

He congratulated the matriculating students and encouraged them to embrace every lesson with an open mind and shun examination malpractices.

The Governor commended the Provost and the college’s staff for their dedication to fostering excellence, noting the significant progress made by them to elevate the college to its new heights.

In her speech, the Provost of the College, Dr. Gbonjubola Owolabi encouraged the students to prioritize their studies and dedicate themselves to achieving their academic goals.

She said the Oyo State College of Nursing and Midwifery stands as a beacon of academic excellence, committed to producing highly skilled and compassionate nurses who will make a difference in the world.

The Director, Nursing Services, Dr. Arinade Oyebode also enjoined the students to get acquainted with the ethics of Nursing profession.
