Makinde, Daura schedule nationwide town halls ahead of 2027 poll

The presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, and Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, and his running mate, Lawal Musa Daura, are set to begin a nationwide series of zonal town hall meetings as part of their consultations and mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Makinde-Daura Presidential Campaign Organisation announced that the meetings would be held across the six geopolitical zones to engage citizens, stakeholders and grassroots supporters on issues affecting the country. Anthony Ehilebo, special adviser on Media and Digital Communication to Makinde, disclosed this at a news conference in Abuja on Sunday.
Ehilebo said the engagements were part of the campaign’s broader consultation and mobilisation efforts, stressing the importance of direct interaction with Nigerians. He said the scheduled meetings were intended to promote broad-based citizen and stakeholder engagement.
According to the campaign organisation, the first meeting will hold in Katsina State on September 22, representing the Northwest zone. The South-South meeting will follow in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on September 25, while Lafia, Nasarawa State, will host the North-Central session on September 28. The Southeast engagement is scheduled for Enugu on September 30.
The organisation said the meetings would be issue-based and citizen-driven, with discussions expected to focus on national stability and the well-being of Nigerians. Ehilebo said the campaign’s central mission was to “Reset Nigeria to a nation that truly works for all,” while promising an administration that would be accessible, accountable and transparent in managing public resources.
Meanwhile, Ehilebo described the ‘Reset Nigeria’ agenda as a growing grassroots movement, claiming it was attracting support across different social, ethnic and religious groups. He also said the campaign had recorded increased momentum ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
He cited recent off-cycle and by-elections as evidence of what the organisation described as growing support for the APM. Specifically, Ehilebo referred to the party’s reported victory in the Bauchi State House of Assembly by-election held on Saturday, saying the outcome reflected increasing support for the party.
The campaign organisation urged Nigerians across the country to participate in the town hall meetings and engage with the Makinde-Daura campaign on issues affecting their communities and the nation. It said the meetings would form part of its wider consultation and mobilisation programme ahead of the 2027 election.
