Makinde declares August 20 public holiday for Isese Day

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has declared Wednesday, August 20, 2025, a work-free day to mark the annual Isese (Traditional) Day celebration in the state.
The announcement was contained in a statement issued on Monday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Professor Olanike Adeyemo, and released to the media by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Sulaimon Olanrewaju.
Makinde said the holiday was in recognition of the importance of Isese Day in promoting Yoruba culture, heritage, and values.
He urged residents of the state to use the occasion to pray for peace, unity, and stability in Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
