Makinde, Eleruwa celebrate Olubadan of Ibadanland at 90

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State and the Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Samuel Adebayo Adegbola, have joined in celebrating the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, Ige Olakulehin I, on the occasion of his 90th birthday.
In a congratulatory message released on Saturday, Governor Makinde commended the Olubadan’s royal leadership, describing his reign as timely and impactful, particularly as the state experiences transformative development.
Makinde praised the monarch’s dedication to traditional leadership, noting that his reign coincides with a historic period of growth for both Ibadan and Oyo State. He acknowledged the Olubadan’s pivotal role in promoting peace, unity, and cultural preservation across the region.
“On behalf of the Government and the good people of Oyo State, I felicitate His Imperial Majesty, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin, on the occasion of his 90th birthday,” the governor said. “Kabiyesi, we celebrate your royal leadership, which is happening at a time we are transforming Ibadanland and building a modern Oyo State.”
The governor also prayed for continued strength, wisdom, and divine guidance for the monarch. “We pray that God continues to uphold and sustain you as you lead your people. Happy birthday, Kabiyesi,” Makinde concluded.
Similarly, the Eleruwa of Eruwa, Oba Adegbola, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the Olubadan, describing him as a towering figure in traditional leadership and Yoruba culture. His message was conveyed in a statement issued from the Eleruwa’s palace on Saturday.
According to Oba Adegbola, the Olubadan’s decades of service have been marked by wisdom, dignity, and unwavering commitment to community development and national unity. He described the nonagenarian monarch as a source of pride and inspiration throughout Yorubaland.
“May Almighty God continue to grant Kabiyesi Olubadan strength, sound health, and grace as he continues to steer the affairs of Ibadanland with wisdom and distinction,” the Eleruwa prayed. “His throne remains a beacon of pride and prosperity for generations.”
