Makinde inaugurates Oyo Judicial Service Commission
…vows to prioritise merit over politics in appointments

Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has inaugurated the Oyo State Judicial Service Commission.
Speaking at the event held at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office in Agodi, Ibadan, Makinde reiterated his administration’s unwavering commitment to appointing individuals based on merit, competence, and capacity, rather than political affiliation, ethnicity, or sentiment.
The governor stressed that talent and excellence remain the core criteria for public appointments under his leadership.
“Wherever we can find talent that can add value to us as a state, I will go for such a person,” the governor said. “We are focused on results, not politics.”
He charged the newly inaugurated commission members to deploy their experience, professionalism, and dedication in strengthening the state’s judicial system and ensuring effective justice delivery.
Justice Iyabo Yerima, the Chief Judge of Oyo State, will serve as Chairperson of the commission, with Mrs M.O. Abdulganiyu appointed as Secretary.
Other members include the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Abiodun Aikomo; Mr Musibau Adetunji; Chief Joshua Abioye; Chief Moyosore Ajani; and Mr Wahab Adedigba.
Makinde reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to build a functional, inclusive system that rewards competence and drives sustainable development across the state.
