Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the dissolution and reconstitution of the third Oyo Youth Parliament as part of efforts to strengthen youth participation in governance and policy development.
The approval underscores the commitment of the Oyo State Government to empower young people and provide them with a stronger voice in decision-making processes across the state.
The development followed the kick-off ceremony for the disbursement of ₦1.5 billion to 1,000 beneficiaries under the Youth Entrepreneurs in Agriculture Programme/Sustainable Action for Economic Recovery (YEAP-SAfER) held at Fasola in Oyo Township.
Disclosing the development while briefing journalists at his office, the Chairman of the Oyo State Agency for Youth Development, Prince Adebowale Adebayo Falana, explained that the inauguration of the third Youth Parliament would coincide with the valedictory service for members of the second Youth Parliament, marking the completion of their tenure.
Falana noted that the initiative is aimed at deepening youth engagement, building leadership capacity, and creating a platform for young people to actively contribute to governance and development in the state.
He added that the new parliament would focus on developing a progressive youth agenda, addressing issues affecting young people, and promoting policies that enhance their socio-economic growth.
In his remarks, Falana also commended Governor Makinde for his continued support for youth-focused initiatives, stating that the administration remains committed to ensuring that young people are actively involved in shaping the future of the state.
The third Youth Parliament is expected to bring together youths from across the state to promote inclusiveness, innovation, and sustainable development.
