Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to building infrastructure for economic expansion.
The governor made the statement during the funeral ceremony of Madam Victoria Omolayo Oni, stepmother of Honourable Abiodun Oni, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Solid Minerals Development and Chairman of the Oyo State Solid Minerals Development Agency, held at the End-time Cry Bible Church, Igbeti, Oyo State.
Makinde, who praised Madam Oni for living a good life, donated N25 million to the End-time Cry Bible Church to immortalise her.
He noted that the Saki-Ogboro-Igboho Road, which seeks to connect Saki West, Saki East, and Oorelope Local Government Areas, has reached an advanced stage. He added that the project would also be extended to link Agbonle in Saki East, Igbeti in Olorunsogo, and Kisi in Irepo Local Government Area.
According to him, connecting the local governments would spur the desired economic uplift of the zone, recalling that he conceived the idea as far back as 1984, when he visited Igbeti as a young boy and noticed the difficulties people faced moving across the area due to a lack of roads.
Governor Makinde further pledged to fulfil his promise to build an airstrip for security surveillance and to rehabilitate and equip the Igbeti General Hospital, in line with commitments made during his electioneering campaign.
