Makinde urges continuity as he commissions Osun road project

Oyo State Governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, has stressed the importance of continuity in governance, emphasizing that public projects are assets for the people and should not be abandoned due to political differences.

The Governor made this statement on Wednesday while joining his Osun State counterpart, Governor Ademola Adeleke, to commission the Roundabout-Testing Ground-Ilesa Garage Road dualization project in Osogbo. The project was initially initiated by former Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

Speaking at the event, Makinde said, “We are united in the task of ensuring that public funds spent on projects, regardless of the administration that initiated them, are put to good use for the benefit of the people of Osun State. This road was started by Governor Aregbesola and completed by Governor Adeleke, demonstrating that credit is secondary to service delivery.”

Makinde also reaffirmed his support for true federalism, noting that he and Governor Adeleke represent progressive leadership in the South-West region.

“We will continue to lead the pack and provide exemplary leadership for our people,” he added.

Earlier, Governor Adeleke reiterated his administration’s commitment to completing projects inherited from previous governments. He revealed that his government has compiled a comprehensive list of abandoned projects and developed a plan for their completion.

Adeleke urged road users to prioritize safety, cautioning against reckless driving and the violation of traffic regulations. He directed security agencies and road safety authorities to enforce traffic safety protocols on the newly developed roads.

He assured residents of Osun State that his administration is focused on fixing infrastructure and fostering collective prosperity.

“I reassure the people of Osun that our administration will not relent in meeting their developmental needs,” Adeleke concluded.
