Makinde urges former PDP members to return, strengthen party

By Adejayan Gbenga –
Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has called on members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to remain committed to the party’s ideals of unity, progress, and development. He also appealed to politicians who left the PDP for coalition arrangements to return and help strengthen the party ahead of future elections.
Speaking at the South-West Zonal Caucus meeting of the PDP held in Ibadan, Governor Makinde likened the defection of some members to abandoning a house due to a leaking roof. He emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in resolving internal issues rather than leaving the party at the slightest challenge.
“You can’t abandon your house because of a leaking roof,” the governor stated. “The PDP is built on a solid foundation. Like any structure, it may develop cracks or leaks, but it is our responsibility to fix them and keep the house standing.”
Makinde’s remarks were aimed at opposition figures and former PDP members currently involved in coalition politics. He urged them to return and work with existing members to rebuild and restore the PDP’s strength across the region and the country.
The governor also acknowledged the sacrifices of party leaders and loyal members, commending their continued support despite numerous challenges. He reaffirmed his commitment to working with all stakeholders to ensure the party’s success.
“Let us fix the roof together and keep this house strong for the future,” he concluded, stressing that unity and cooperation remain vital for the PDP’s survival and future electoral victories.
