Makinde’s Deputy Chief of Staff clinches PDP ticket for Ibadan North bye-election

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has thrown his weight behind his Deputy Chief of Staff, Hon. Folajimi Oyekunle, who has emerged as the consensus candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the forthcoming Ibadan North Federal Constituency bye-election.

Oyekunle’s emergence followed extensive consultations and a unanimous agreement among key party stakeholders aimed at presenting a united front ahead of the bye-election scheduled for August 16, 2025.

The decision was solidified after other aspirants voluntarily stepped down and declared their full support for Oyekunle—a move seen as a strategic effort to strengthen the PDP’s position in the constituency.

Prominent party leaders present at the meeting where the consensus was reached included former Deputy Governor Barrister Hazeem Gbolarumi, Senior Executive Assistant to the Governor, Chief Bayo Lawal, and the State PDP Secretary, Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke.
