Former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has confirmed that he was invited by the Department of State Services (DSS) in connection with an attack on his convoy in Kebbi State on September 1, 2025.
In a statement on Tuesday, Malami disclosed that the DSS invitation followed a petition allegedly instigated by high-profile opposition political figures in the state.
He commended the security agency for the professional and transparent manner in which the inquiry was conducted.
“I was treated with dignity and respect, and I remain committed to cooperating fully with the Department to ensure that their investigation is concluded successfully,” Malami said.
On September 1, 2025, Malami’s convoy reportedly came under attack in Kebbi State. Details surrounding the incident remain unclear, but the assault heightened political tensions in the state, with rival camps trading blame over its orchestration.
