Malami, Tallen attend FEC after u-turn on political ambitions

Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami and his Women Affairs counterpart, Pauline Tallen were at Wednesday’s Federal Executive Council meeting presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari.
They attended the meeting after pulling out of the Kebbi governorship and Plateau senatorial seats last week.
Malami was physically present at the meeting while Tallen attended virtually.

At last week’s FEC meeting, President Buhari had directed ministers vying for various elective offices to resign from office before Monday.
He then held a valedictory session with nine of them on Friday.
After the valedictory session, four of the ministers pulled out of contesting in the 2023 general elections.
They are Malami, Tallen, Minister of Labour and Employment Chris Ngige and Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Slyva.
Both ministers had already obtained the N100m presidential nomination and expression of interest forms of the All Progressives Congress.
