Man, 30, lands in trouble for stealing plank in Ibadan

A Mapo Chief Magistrate Court in Ibadan on Tuesday sentenced a 30-year-old man, Pelumi Olusola, to three months’ imprisonment for stealing a plank from a construction site in Lagelu Estate, Felele, Ibadan.
The prosecuting counsel, Inspector Oluseye Akinola, told the court that security personnel caught Olusola removing the plank from an abandoned site on May 29, 2025.
He said the offence violated Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Although Olusola pleaded guilty to the charge, the Magistrate, Mrs. O.O. Latunji, found him guilty and sentenced him based on his plea and the evidence presented by the prosecution.
Latunji also cautioned Olusola to desist from further criminal acts, warning that he might not be so fortunate to receive a lenient sentence next time.
