Man cries out over death threats from traditional worshippers

A resident of Ogundana street off itoki, Ijoko Road Ogun state, Mr. Kayode Jimoh Awodipe who is a devoted Christian has raised alarm over threats to his life, upon his refusal to join and worship Esu Odara which is the deity is father Mr. Abdul Awodipe and grandfather are worshipping.
Kayode , disclosed to our correspondent that his ordeal started on 16/10/2002 when he was on visit to his grandfather when 6 traditional worshipers dressed in traditional attire revealed to his grandfather that he (Kayode) has been chosen by the Oracle to lead and serve the deity which will require him going for spiritual cleansing incisions and to devote his life to the deity.
As a devoted Christian, Kayode said he bluntly refused the offer. He further narrated that his father and grandfather did not agreed with his decision not to worship and he was strongly warned by the duo that is a taboo to disrespect tradition and culture.
But Kayode said he insisted not to abandon his Christianity faith for the worshipping of Esu Odara the deity of their community.
He lamented that he was receiving a lot of life-threatening calls and messages from different people and that he has to run away for his dear life as his report to the police did not yield any positive result because he was advice by the police not to disregard the culture and customs of the community.
Specifically, he said the agony he is facing to receive a clear death threat. via WhatsApp message from one Elder who refused to mention his name which he said the man in question is unknown to me.
He, however, explained that he is a devoted Christian and as such he would never compromise his faith by worshipping idols.
A distraught Kayode also informed our correspondent that he had duly lodged complaint of the latest death threat at the Police for investigation.
