Man United beat Arsenal 3-2 as title race heats up

Manchester United reignited the Premier League title race with a dramatic 3–2 victory over leaders Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday, handing the Gunners their first home league defeat of the season.

Second-half strikes from Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha sealed the win for United after a pulsating contest that saw the lead change hands twice.

Arsenal had been on course to extend their advantage at the top of the table after taking the lead in the 29th minute. A dangerous delivery into the box resulted in Lisandro Martinez inadvertently turning the ball into his own net, sending the home crowd into celebration.

However, United drew level eight minutes later following a costly error from Martin Zubimendi. The midfielder miscontrolled possession and passed straight to Bryan Mbeumo, who made no mistake with a composed finish to restore parity.

United went ahead shortly after the break when Dorgu unleashed a powerful strike from distance that crashed in off the crossbar in the 50th minute.

Arsenal pushed hard for an equaliser and appeared to have rescued a point when substitute Mikel Merino poked home from close range in the 84th minute. But the visitors had the final say as Cunha curled a superb effort from over 25 yards into the net just three minutes later, sparking jubilant scenes among the travelling supporters.

The defeat leaves Arsenal winless in their last three league matches. Mikel Arteta’s side remain top with 50 points from 23 games, but their lead has been cut to four points, with Manchester City and Aston Villa both on 46 after weekend victories.

United’s win lifts them to fourth place on 38 points, keeping their push for a strong finish to the season firmly on track.
