Ahead of upcoming international engagements, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has appointed new head coaches for the U-17 national team, the Golden Eaglets, and the U-20 women’s national team, the Super Falconets.
The appointments followed recommendations by the NFF’s Technical and Development Sub-Committee, which submitted the names of the selected coaches.
Based on the recommendation, experienced tactician Manu Garba has been named Head Coach of the Golden Eaglets, while Moses Aduku takes over as Head Coach of the Falconets, replacing Chris Danjuma.
Garba previously led the Golden Eaglets to victory at the 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates—Nigeria’s fourth title in the tournament. He has also coached the team on two other occasions, including during their qualification for the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil.
The committee also endorsed the appointment of Moses Aduku, an experienced women’s football coach, to lead the U-20 girls’ national team. Aduku, who has managed Bayelsa Queens and Edo Queens with distinction, was assistant coach of the Falconets when they reached the quarter-finals of the 2022 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica.
Both Garba and Aduku are expected to officially resume duties on Sunday, as both teams have important fixtures on the horizon.
The Falconets will face Rwanda in a 2026 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifying fixture in September, while the Golden Eaglets will compete in the WAFU B U-17 Boys Tournament, which Nigeria is set to host the same month.
