Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, has called on the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, to intensify efforts to locate and apprehend those responsible for the murder of Isa Bawa, the District Head of Gatawa in Sokoto State.

In a statement issued on Friday in Abuja by Henshaw Ogubike, Director of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry of Defence, Matawalle condemned the killing as a heinous and intolerable crime.

“The brutal killing of Bawa is a senseless act that will not be tolerated,” Matawalle stated. “We will ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.”

The minister directed the Chief of Defence Staff to launch a comprehensive investigation into the incident and ensure that the perpetrators face justice. He emphasized that security remains a top priority for President Bola Tinubu, who has been fully supporting the military’s efforts.

Matawalle assured the public that the Armed Forces of Nigeria would leave no stone unturned in tracking down those responsible for the crime. “We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of all Nigerians,” he added.

He also expressed his deepest condolences to the family of the late District Head, the people of Gatawa, and the Sokoto State Government.

Bawa was reportedly kidnapped alongside his son while returning from Sokoto and was killed by his abductors 26 days later.
