Mayowa Lambe seeks N100m damages, retraction from ex-husband over podcast allegations
On-Air Personality Mayowa Lambe has issued a cease-and-desist notice to her estranged husband, Robert Ekpenyong Ekpo, demanding a public retraction and N100 million in damages over statements made during a podcast appearance.
In a notice dated April 22 and signed by K. Umoh Esq., Lambe’s legal representatives accused Ekpo of making defamatory remarks about her during an appearance on The Honest Bunch podcast.
The notice, issued through the legal department of Aunt Landa’s Bethel Foundation, demanded an immediate cessation of the alleged defamatory statements, removal of all related content, a public apology, and payment of N100 million in damages.
It warned that failure to comply within three days would trigger legal action, including claims for aggravated damages, injunctive relief, and possible criminal complaints, while cautioning third parties against further circulation of the allegations.
The demand followed Ekpo’s podcast interview in which he spoke about the breakdown of their marriage, making allegations relating to infidelity, financial strain, and personal disputes. He also raised issues concerning fertility challenges and financial support during the course of their relationship.
In response, Lambe’s legal team described the claims as false, misleading, and damaging to her reputation, insisting they formed part of a sustained campaign of defamation.
According to the legal notice, “The statements made by your client are false, malicious, and calculated to mislead the public, thereby causing reputational harm and emotional distress to our client.”
The team further stated that the couple’s traditional marriage had been mutually dissolved with the knowledge of both families before May 11, 2025, and that no valid marital relationship existed thereafter.
