New NPA Chair Adeyeye: Mr SWAGA gets his reward

He waited with bated breath for this day to come. He spearheaded the move for Asíwájú Bola Tinubu to contest for the presidency.

Together with other like minds, he formed the South-west Agenda for President Tinubu.

Senator Adedayo Adeyeye, former Minister of State for Works and a chieftain of the Yoruba socio-political group Afenifere led that group, which can be described as the group that paved the ground, singing the gospel of an Asiwaju presidency.

SWAGA went round the country mobilizing support for Asiwaju even when he had yet to throw his hat into the ring.

The persuasion synchronized with the mission and vision of an Asiwaju who had prepared himself over the years for the leadership of the country.

And today Asiwaju Tinubu is President of Nigeria.

So Adeyeye, Mr. SWAGA has gotten his compensation at last.

Born in 1957, the new NPA Chairman studied Political Science at the University of Ibadan and the University of Lagos, obtaining bachelor’s and master’s degrees in 1978 and 1981 respectively. Not done yet, Prince Adeyeye bagged a degree in Law from the University of Lagos in 1986. He was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987.

Adeyeye had stints in journalism at the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria and The Punch Newspapers, holding various editorial positions. He was the Principal Partner at Dayo Adeyeye & Co. law firm before plunging into political activism as a member of the National Democratic Coalition (NADECO), fighting against military rule and the return to democracy.

As Director of Publicity for Chief Olu Falae’s Presidential Campaign; Adviser, Policy and Press Matters for MKO Abiola for President Campaign Organisation in 1993 and spokesperson for Alliance for Democracy (AD), Prince Adeyeye played active roles in the political developments of the country.

He was appointed Executive Chairman of Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board in 2007 and Minister of State for Works in 2014. Prince Adeyeye also served as the Pro-Chancellor of Ekiti State University in 2015.

A grassroots politician, Adeyeye ran for the Ekiti South Senatorial District election in 2019 and was declared winner of the poll but later lost at the election petition tribunal.

Prince Adeyeye has served on many committees and has won accolades for his outstanding performance as an astute public administrator.
