MFM Women’s Basketball Club has arrived in Monrovia, Liberia, to compete in the FIBA Africa Zone 3 Club Championship Qualifiers, which kicks off on Monday. A total of seven teams are participating in the tournament.

Nigeria, Côte d’Ivoire, and host Liberia are each fielding two clubs, with the seventh team representing the Republic of Benin. Nigeria’s second team is the Customs of Abuja.

The MFM squad includes four players who helped Nigeria qualify for the U-18 World Championship in Serbia, set for 2025. Among them are Captain Wandoo Hembam Marvis, along with Haminatu Ayoka Ayodeji, Idumabo Beggi Pius, and Abigail Isaac.

MFM earned their spot in the qualifiers after defeating Nigeria Customs to retain their title from last year’s competition in Lagos.

Team captain Ukamaka Okoh emphasized that MFM’s goal in Liberia is to secure one of the two available qualification tickets. She also expressed gratitude to their team financier and MFM General Overseer, Dr. Daniel Olukoya, for his unwavering support.
