Minister hails NASENI’s Made-in-Nigeria innovations, urges stronger collaboration

The Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, has lauded the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) for its transformational achievements under the leadership of Executive Vice Chairman, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu.

Oduwole gave the commendation on Monday, August 11, 2025, after inspecting key NASENI facilities in Abuja, including the NASENI Innovation Hub, the NASENI Technology Site at the Abuja Technology Village, the NASENI Troment facility, and the Abuja Technology Park in the Idu Industrial Area.

The visit formed part of the ministry’s efforts to assess local industrial capacity and identify high-impact projects supporting the Federal Government’s Nigeria First Policy—an agenda aimed at boosting domestic production, promoting local consumption, and creating jobs through industrialisation.

Speaking with journalists after the tour, the minister said the inspection confirmed the agency’s tangible contributions to manufacturing and innovation. “I have seen actual 100 per cent made-in-Nigeria products, not just plans or MoUs. I have met happy investors, setting the pace nationally, regionally, and globally,” she said.

During the tour, the minister visited NASENI’s product showroom, the Troment factory—geared to produce world-class pharmaceuticals including HIV vaccines—and the Innovation Hub showcasing various locally developed technologies. She also joined Halilu in a test ride of NASENI’s anti-ballistic missile armoured vehicle.

Oduwole described NASENI’s work as a driver of national economic transformation and urged the agency to maintain its momentum in knowledge sharing, inspiring the younger generation, and advancing its commercialisation drive to support domestic content development.

In his remarks, Halilu thanked the minister, the permanent secretary, and ministry officials for the visit, pledging stronger collaboration to boost productivity. He revealed that NASENI has over 40 market-ready products capable of competing globally, with more innovations in development.

He also appealed to the media to embrace developmental journalism to highlight the agency’s role in advancing Nigeria’s industrial growth.
