Minister of Aviation distributes 600 bags of fertilizer to farmers in Delta

Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, has distributed 600 bags of fertilizer to local farmers across the three senatorial districts of Delta State.
This effort is part of the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, aimed at fostering sustainable development and improving the livelihoods of Nigerians through enhanced agricultural support.
The fertilizer distribution targeted registered farmer cooperatives in Delta North, Delta South, and Delta Central, equipping them with essential resources to improve crop yields and support local food security. In Delta Central alone, around 30 farmer cooperatives benefited from the initiative, demonstrating the government’s commitment to empowering grassroots farmers and promoting agricultural growth.

Speaking on the initiative, Keyamo highlighted the crucial role of agriculture in driving economic progress, alleviating poverty, and generating employment. “Our farmers are the backbone of this country, and it is imperative that they receive the support needed to enhance their productivity. This fertilizer distribution is part of a broader effort to strengthen our agricultural value chain and ensure food security for all Nigerians,” he said.

The timely distribution is expected to significantly enhance local farmers’ output as the planting season progresses. Beneficiaries across the senatorial districts expressed gratitude, highlighting the initiative’s potential to increase harvests and lessen reliance on costly imports.
The support is also anticipated to encourage the cultivation of high-demand crops, reduce farmers’ production costs, and help stabilize food prices in the region.

Minister Keyamo reiterated his dedication to both the agricultural and aviation sectors, emphasizing their combined importance to Nigeria’s economy.
“Agriculture and aviation might seem worlds apart, but they are both critical to our national economy. We’re working to ensure that every sector is strengthened for the benefit of all Nigerians,” he noted.
