Tragedy has hit Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA), as two students who went missing three weeks ago have been found dead in a forest in Ondo State.

The deceased students were identified as Andrel Eloho Okah, a 200-level student of History and International Studies, and John Friday Abba, a 200-level student of Economics. Both were studying at the state-owned institution.

Their remains were reportedly discovered over the weekend in a forested area along the border between Akoko and Ekiti.

A security source, who spoke anonymously, confirmed the discovery to Western Post, saying, “It’s very unfortunate. The two missing AAUA students have been found dead. Their suspected abductors dumped their bodies in the bush, and some of our men have been deployed to recover the corpses.”

A student of the university also confirmed the incident, saying the entire campus was in mourning. “Yes, the news is true. Their bodies have been found in the bush. This is a very dark moment for all of us,” the student said.

The mysterious disappearance of the two students had earlier sparked protests and calls for urgent action by the school community and local residents.

When contacted, the Ondo State Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, said an official statement would be released soon regarding the incident.

Urging residents and the school community to stay vigilant, the police added that investigation into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy is ongoing.
