Mohbad got hooked on ice, says Naira Marley

By Tosin Brown –
Popular musician, Azeez Fashola, also known as Naira Marley, has opened up on the addiction struggles of his late ex-signee, Mohbad, who passed away on September 12, 2023.
The singer shared his side of the story in a two-hour documentary released on YouTube.
He narrated how Mohbad began his musical journey under his label and eventually became hooked on drugs.
“He told me he was taking a substance, which I later found out to be Ice (crystal meth). I wasn’t angry; I called him, advised him, and told him about the dangers because I know the damage it has done to people I know in the United Kingdom. He said he got into it because of stress but promised he would stop. I didn’t force him to do anything,” Naira Marley said.
The artiste also alleged that Mohbad had attempted suicide in October 2022, about a year before his death.
He further stressed that he neither bullied the late singer nor sent anyone to bully him at any time.
Naira Marley added that all royalties from Mohbad’s music under Marlian Music remain intact, and his lawyer, alongside any representative appointed by Mohbad’s family, can collect the royalties when ready.
