MohBad’s mum: my light is dead, By Gbenga Omotoso

She isn’t that old, but she has aged. Suddenly. That is the picture you get when you see the grieving mother of music star Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba(aka MohBad).
The agony of a distraught mum was vividly demonstrated today when Deputy Governor Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat shunned the revelries of a birthday and chose to visit MohBad’s Lekki home.
“My light is dead; yours will not die,” the woman muttered as Dr Hamzat tapped her on the shoulder, urging her to put her hope in The Almighty, the One who knows everything.
Tears cascaded down her cheeks; her eyeballs were red – no thanks to days of shedding tears, hot tears.
There was no doubt a part of Mrs Aloba was gone, gone for good. The dull afternoon sun was not enough to illuminate the dark, dull and drab environment.
“They know that I have no power; I have no power; that’s why they did this to me, but I have God. He will fight for me,” she said.
It was, indeed, an emotional visit. Dr Hamzat said: “The Governor has asked me to tell you that we will not allow the family to suffer; we will take care of the child left behind by your son.”
The tearful duo of a young woman and a young man- sister and brother of the late star- completed the picture of agony. They were inconsolable.
Just by the door a big portrait, a good pencil work of the late MohBad, sat on a table draped with a white cloth. A condolence register was on the table.
Dr Hamzat wrote:”We came representing the state on the demise of our brilliant and gifted son. His death will NOT be in vain. His own little child will grow higher in life. We pray that God will console the parents and siblings and the family members left behind. Rest in peace.”
With the Deputy Governor were Chief of Staff to the Governor Mr Tayo Ayinde, Commissioner for Youth Mobolaji Ogunlende, Commisioner for Information and Strategy Gbenga Omotoso and Special Adviser on Tourism, Arts and Culture Idris Aregbe.
