Motorcyclist dies in fiery crash on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

A motorcyclist lost his life in a fatal accident on Thursday night after crashing into a culvert near the NNPC Filling Station along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ibafo, Ogun State.
The Ogun State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement signed by its spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, on Friday.
According to the statement, the accident occurred at about 9:30 PM and involved a yellow Quic motorcycle with an unknown registration number.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the rider, whose identity is yet to be established, was speeding when he lost control and collided with the culvert. The impact caused the motorcycle to catch fire, leading to its complete destruction.
Emergency responders, including officers from the Motor Traffic Police (MOTOPOL) unit, swiftly arrived at the scene. The victim’s body was evacuated to Real Divine Hospital Mortuary in Ibafo, while the burnt motorcycle was taken to the police station for safekeeping and further examination by the Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO).
The Ogun State Police Command has urged motorcyclists and other road users to obey speed limits and road safety regulations to prevent such tragic accidents. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
