The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the deployment of Mutiu Olaleke Agboke as the new resident electoral commissioner for Ondo State.

The development was disclosed by the state Administrative Secretary of INEC, Adenike Tadese, in a statement issued on Monday.

According to the statement, Agboke will emerge the 21st REC in Ondo State, succeeding Oluwatoyin Babalola, who has been redeployed to Osun State.

The commission described the new REC as a legal practitioner and election management expert with extensive experience in electoral administration.

It noted that Agboke, who hails from Abeokuta in Ogun State, was called to the Nigerian Bar in 2006 and previously served as a member of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission between 2012 and 2016.

INEC added that Agboke had also worked as REC in Ondo, Oyo and Osun states, where he played key roles in overseeing the 2019 and 2023 general elections.

The commission expressed confidence in his competence, noting that his track record of professionalism and transparency would enhance credible electoral processes in Ondo State.
