Lagos State FA Chairman Alhaji Gafar Liameed and Super Eagles forward Taiwo Awoniyi have made further cash donations to the Flying Eagles after the U-20 men’s team defeated Niger Republic’s Junior Mena 3-1, securing a place in the final against Ghana’s Black Satellites in the ongoing WAFU B U20 tournament in Lome, Togo.
Alhaji Gafar contributed 1 million naira, while Awoniyi, a Nottingham Forest striker and former Flying Eagles player, donated 2.5 million naira.
These contributions come as Nigerians continue to support the U-20 team to boost their morale. The Flying Eagles have already earned a spot in next year’s AFCON U20 tournament.
The Flying Eagles will face Ghana on Wednesday as they look to defend the title they won two years ago in Niger Republic.
