NANS decries student killings at AAUA, demands urgent security action

By Boye Oyeyemi –
The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council, Ondo State Axis, has strongly condemned the recurring violent attacks and killings of students at Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko (AAUA).
In a statement, the student body expressed deep sorrow over the recent murder of a female student, which occurred just weeks after two others were gruesomely killed within the university community.
The statement, jointly signed by NANS JCC Chairman, Comrade Adekanye Mayomi Adeboye (INEC), and General Secretary, Comrade Oladele Oluwafemi Emmanuel (Fresh Diamond), described the incidents as a disturbing failure of security and called for urgent action from the Ondo State Government and security agencies.
“The incessant killings are a clear indication of a security lapse that must be addressed urgently,” the statement read.
NANS demanded the immediate arrest and prosecution of the perpetrators, deployment of enhanced security around the university, and stronger efforts to ensure student safety.
The student leaders also urged the AAUA management to conduct intensive orientation and safety awareness programs to help students understand personal security and responsible lifestyle choices.
“We will not fold our arms while our fellow students continue to fall victim to senseless violence,” the union stated. “We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and promise to keep pushing for justice.”
NANS further called on the public and concerned citizens to join in condemning the killings and to support initiatives aimed at creating a safer academic environment in the state.
