NASENI holds retreat to strengthen innovation, national cohesion
The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) is hosting a two-day strategic retreat in Abuja for overseeing officers, project managers, coordinating directors, and some directors from its headquarters.
The retreat aims to foster greater cohesion among NASENI’s various development institutes and ensure alignment with the agency’s broader goals and vision.
This event seeks to strengthen leadership capabilities, encourage collaboration, and maximize resources for effective decision-making. It will also focus on shifting research and development (R&D) efforts toward market-ready, innovative solutions that can generate sustainable economic value.
In his welcome address, Mr. Khalil Suleiman Halilu, Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of NASENI, emphasized that the retreat is not just about planning, but about creating a blueprint for action. He urged participants to take ownership of their pivotal roles in translating NASENI’s vision into reality.
“The conversations, strategies, and commitments forged here will determine how effectively we position NASENI to lead Nigeria into a future defined by innovation, self-reliance, and technological advancement,” Halilu stated.
He further highlighted the retreat as a critical step in NASENI’s transformative journey, underpinned by the guiding principles of Creation, Collaboration, and Commercialization (3Cs). These principles reflect NASENI’s core mission: creating solutions that are commercially viable and directly benefit Nigerians.
Halilu acknowledged that recent assessments revealed a need for better alignment between the goals of NASENI’s Development Institutes and the agency’s renewed vision.
The retreat is designed to address these gaps by ensuring that research and innovation are not only forward-thinking but also capable of solving real-world problems.
“We gather today not just to deliberate, but to lay the groundwork for a stronger, more unified NASENI—one that is poised to drive Nigeria’s technological aspirations to unprecedented heights,” he added.
Halilu encouraged the management staff to engage fully in the retreat, think boldly, and collaborate purposefully. “This is our moment to redefine our collective impact and reaffirm our dedication to a vision that unites us under the banner of progress for our nation,” he concluded, urging the team to move forward with clarity and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
