Natasha threatens to sue N/Assembly Clerk if she’s barred from resuming Monday
Embattled Senator representing Kogi Central, Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, has threatened legal action against the Clerk of the National Assembly, Kamorudeen Ogunlana, if she is prevented from resuming at the senate next week.
In a letter by counsel to Senator Natasha, Chief Michael Numa (SAN), the lawmaker, warned the Clerk of the National Assembly against any attempt to stop her from resuming legislative duties on Monday, September 15, 2025, saying she would be forced to seek legal redress if the directive of the court is disregarded.
The lawmaker who was suspended in March following her altercation with the President of the Senate contended that the refusal to enforce a valid court judgement contravenes the Constitution and the Code of Conduct for Public Officers.
She urged the clerk to re-evaluate his position and adhere to the “Constitution and extant judicial orders”.
The National Assembly had, in a letter on September 4, 2025, signed by the Acting Clerk to the National Assembly (Ag. CNA), Dr Yahaya Danzaria, informed the lawmaker that despite completing her six-month suspension, she could not resume her legislative duties until the Court of Appeal delivers its verdict on the case.
