National identity project will redefine Nigerians- NOA DG

Director General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Lanre Issa-Onilu, has said the National Identity Project would redefine who Nigerians are, saying it would enhance the value system.

Issa-Onilu who was a guest on the TVC’s Politics Tonight programme on Thursday, explained that the agency is concerned about building a value system that would make Nigerians a better citizens. 

Speaking further, the NOA DG said the agency has the capacity to deliver on its mandate, stating that the agency is working with other agencies to improve on its labour force.

Issa-Onilu added that the agency is getting tremendous support from President Bola Tinubu, saying that he was sure the agency would continue to enjoy more support from other government institutions.

Issa-Onilu said the agency is engaging with the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), law enforcement agencies and tanker operators on how best to tame the menace of scooping fuel during tanker accident.

He also said the agency have partnered with media organisations to intensify public policy communication and enlighment, adding that series of town hall meetings were held with citizens on government policy.

Issa-Onilu said the agency had been able to get feedback for the government through its various communication channel with the people on government policies.

He pleaded with Nigerians to continue to support government policies, saying the government is aware of the effects on the citizens.

The NOA DG added that the agency would intensify its efforts in sensitizing and educating Nigerians on public policies, assuring that the agency would continue to implement value orientation strategies for the betterment of the country.
