NCAA certifies Ogun Gateway Airport for commercial flights

By Kunle Sanni –
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has granted the Gateway International Airport in Ogun State an Aerodrome Operational Permit to operate scheduled commercial flights.
This was contained in a post by Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State via his X account on Friday.
According to the governor, the approval followed a successful technical inspection, on-site verification, and audit of the facility, making it the first certification of its kind in Nigeria.
Abiodun said the airport, certified with an Aerodrome Reference Code of 3C and an ARFFS Category of 6, will soon begin passenger flights to Abuja and Port Harcourt.
He added that a major international logistics company had agreed to operate two weekly cargo flights from London to the airport, which has also been designated as an alternate airport to Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
The governor described the milestone as a boost to trade, investment, and tourism in Ogun State, saying the facility would “redefine air travel standards in Nigeria.”
