NCAA meets passenger, crew in ongoing Ibom Air ‘air rage’ investigation

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) says it has met with Comfort Emmanson, the passenger at the centre of a recent air rage incident on an Ibom Air flight.

The meeting, which held on Thursday, formed part of the regulatory body’s ongoing investigation into the incident that occurred on a Lagos-bound flight from Uyo.

Michael Achimugu, NCAA’s director of public affairs and consumer protection, confirmed the development in a statement on social media, noting that Emmanson was accompanied by her lawyer.

Earlier on Wednesday, NCAA officials had also engaged Julie Edwards and other Ibom Air crew members involved in the confrontation. The meetings, Achimugu said, are aimed at ensuring a fair and thorough probe.

According to him, directorates of aviation security, operations, licensing and training standards, legal services, and consumer protection are jointly working on the case.

Achimugu, however, did not disclose the outcome of either meeting.

The NCAA had earlier announced plans to meet with Ibom Air management and eyewitnesses, urging passengers aboard the flight to come forward with testimonies.

The probe was launched after videos circulated online showing Emmanson allegedly assaulting a flight attendant and later clashing with airport security officials.
